kyle and i have a new niece! kyle’s sister had Rylan Leslie today at 3:44 pm. she weighed in at 7 lbs. 3 oz. and is 20 inches long. this is kyle’s sister’s second child. (the oldest daughter, McKenna, will be 3 years old in a couple of weeks). overall, this is our third niece. (my brother and his wife had a little girl in march of this year too.)

i haven’t quite figured out how to post pictures on here yet. as soon as i do, i’ll post a picture of baby Rylan.

well, we had an exciting weekend. friday night, we went to el paso, texas, and saw the Rolling Stones in concert! (el paso is about a four hour drive from where we live.) they performed at the Sun Bowl stadium (the american football stadium at the university there), and the Dave Matthews Band opened up for them. Dave even came back and sang one song with the Stones. the stage was huge, and there were fireworks and bright lights everywhere. at one point, the band was in the center part of the stage, which lifted up and their crew pulled them out across a catwalk in the middle of the crowd. they played for about two hours, and we were impressed with how energetic they all are. you know, for really old guys and all. so, that was a lot of fun.

the bad part of the weekend is that i woke up saturday morning sick. we had planned to stay and play in southern new mexico for the rest of the weekend, but kyle decided to bring me home to rest. i’m still a little icky today, but i’m feeling better.

Kyle and I are thinking about buying a house. We have seen several houses, but last weekend we saw a house that we absolutely LOVE! There are so many factors to consider before we buy here. First of all, Midland is centered around the oil industry. All of the prices are driven by the price of oil (which most of you know is fairly high right now). That means, the cost of housing is fairly high here as well. Then, Kyle has to figure out if his company is going to move him to another location soon. If that is the case, then we won’t buy here and wait until we move. It is all very confusing and a lot to consider. We do know that we are beginning to overflow out of our two bedroom apartment. Who knew that boys have so much stuff?!

i just heard some exciting news. apparently, the Miami Metro Zoo (in Florida) will be hosting an exhibit on POOP! it’s called “The Scoop on Poop,” and visitors can learn about the digestive systems of animals. i’m sure that i’m the only one out there who just thinks this idea is hilarious, but i don’t care. “Poop” is just funny! if you want to learn more about the exhibit, here’s the website to the zoo’s description of the event:

otherwise, just try going around saying “poop poop poop” and not laughing.

okay, so my friend autumn has been telling me for months that i need to set up a blog. here it is! i’m still trying to figure this all out, but i’ll really try to post something at least once a week. plus, there’s really not that much exciting going on in my life right now. i’m just living and waiting in west texas. kyle and i have been traveling a lot lately, so i’ll try to post some pictures of what we’ve seen. otherwise, i look forward to seeing your comments (questions and snide remarks welcome too!).
