We are getting a male boxer puppy tomorrow. Yea! He is only 8 weeks old, and we are really excited. (By we, I mean me.) I need help with names. So far, we have Shiner, Boston, Punx (short for Punxsutawney), Phil, and Hog. If you couldn’t tell, the last three names are related to Groundhog Day. The coolest holiday all year long, which is only one week away now. Get your party plans in order, the day is near. Okay, now that I am finished with my Groundhog plug, any votes or suggestions for the name of our new puppy?

And, I still haven’t got the whole putting pictures on here figured out. It keeps saying that the files are too big, so how do I make the files smaller? Well, once I get all of that figured out, I’ll put pictures of little no-name puppy up on here.

it is almost that time of year again. GROUNDHOG DAY! it is exactly two weeks from today. are you ready for some good groundhog day fun? do you have all of your party supplies for the big day lined up? have you put away your christmas decorations only to bring out the groundhog day decorations? it is a big holiday, so i understand if you are a little behind in your planning.

last year, i had a groundhog day party. only two people showed up. kyle humored me though. i made groundhog cookies and groundhog jello jigglers. i’ll probably do the same again this year, but i’m not sure if we will be in town on groundhog day to throw a party. in fact, i may not be able to watch phil come out to make his proclamation either… it will be a very sad day if i don’t get to watch it. i’m sure that i will hear about it on the radio or something to that extent.

if you would like to see phil give his weather forecast, go to either the groundhog day link or the puxsutawney link located on the right of my blog page. usually, they will have a live broadcast of the event. it happens at approximately 7:15 am EST on groundhog day. if we are not out of town that day, i’ll get up early and watch it. i’ll then send out my usual e-mail with the results.

HAPPY GROUNDHOG DAY! (almost)

until i get some pictures on here, i thought that i would give an update since the last time i posted.  kyle and i spent 12 days in indiana for the holidays and came back to texas on the 2nd of january.  we had a lovely time at home.  we were with my parents and family for the first half of the week, including christmas eve and day.  we were able to visit with my brother, who came in from florida, and play with his 10 month old daughter, katelynn.  i’m her favorite aunt.  we spent the last half of the week at kyle’s parents’ house, and we were chasing our three-year-old niece mckenna most of that time.  that girl has got some energy!  we also got to cuddle with the newest of the nieces - two month old rylan.  once again, i’m their favorite aunt.

once we returned from indiana, we were at our home for two days and then went to taos, new mexico for a three day ski weekend.  kyle loves to ski, and i love to sit in the lodge drinking hot chocolate and feeling all warm and cozy.  kyle has a season pass to ski in taos, so we go a few times every winter.  i have tried to ski before.  i even took a two day lesson up there.  it scares me!  kyle is currently trying to talk me into going back on that mountain with planks of wood strapped to my feet.  i’m thinking about it.  no!

after we returned from taos, we were at home for four days.  last friday was kyle’s birthday, and we went to austin for the weekend.  i had a meeting with the board of law examiners in austin on friday, so that is why we chose to go to there for kyle’s birthday.  we had a nice dinner at cracker barrel. (and we still can’t believe that we don’t have one in midland, texas!)  and saturday morning, we hit a huge outlet mall!  i’ll spare you the details of that trip.

we decided to come back on saturday because an ice storm was about to hit texas later in the day.  most of our drive back, we were south enough to stay out of the ice, and we got back to midland before any significant ice hit here.  midland was in the southern end of the ice storm, so we only got a thin layer of ice.  not enough to knock out power, but enough that we didn’t want to go out on the roads with the big texan trucks.  we did have a problem with our heater, but that got fixed on monday.  so on sunday, we enjoyed the day by the fire.  (yes, we used our new fireplace!  we thought that we would never use it here!  who knew that southwest texas could get cold?!)

that should bring you up to date.  we’ve been very busy for about a month and a half now, so i think that we are going to stay home this weekend and just enjoy our new home.  and maybe finish unpacking!

General 2:22 pm

okay, i’ve been trying to upload pictures of our house and a picture of the recent ice storm here, but i’m having a little trouble.  the computer keeps saying the the files are too large to upload.  i don’t get it.  anybody out there know what to do?
