I have been uploading pictures, but I’m having some problems. I get them uploaded to my blog, and then I can get them onto the "Write Post" page. However, when I hit "Save," the picture is gone when I view the blog site. Am I missing a step? I know that I have done this before. I can do this. Ugh.
Paint, Puppy, and Couches…oh my!
I’ll try not to write as much as I did last time…
Kyle’s parents are still here, and we have most of the house painted now. We painted the living room yellow, and it is really bright in there now! It was really dark brown and drab before, so I’m pleased with a little brightness. The kitchen/dining room is a sage green. That turned out much brighter than we were expecting, but I still like it. Kyle is a little nervous about it, but I told him that it will tone down once we have stuff on the walls and new counter tops. The halls are a creme color. And, finally, we have the accent wall in our bedroom a dark orange. We are debating about the other walls in there. Kyle wants to leave them white, but I think that they need some color at least. Any thoughts out there?
Rocky had his knee surgery yesterday, and I picked him up after work today. The vet said that everything went really well. The ligament in his knee was completely shredded, so it was good that we took care of it now because it would have caused more problems later on. Now, he is home with a splint on his leg and just looking pathetic. I’ll try to post a picture of him. We just have to keep him calm for the next three weeks. No jumping, romping, and that sort of thing. This is a puppy, you know!!!
Finally, we got a new couch and a new oversized chair today! There is an ottoman with the set, but it is on back order, so we will get that in a few weeks. We feel like such grown-ups. The house is starting to look nice and put together. I’m excited!
Have you ever had one of those weeks where anything that can go wrong will go wrong? That’s pretty much how our week was.
First off, Monday afternoon, I finally got offered a job. It is just a temporary office job - probably about three-four weeks. It’s data entry, so nothing too exciting, but it’s something to do and earn some money and pay some bills. I was to start Tuesday morning, which I did. However, Kyle got up early on Tuesday to let Rocky go outside to go potty and heard some water running. Our water heater burst overnight and was pouring out all over the garage. Luckily, it was the garage and no serious damage was done. We got that turned off and cleaned up well enough. I contacted our home warranty and they were going to send a plummer out to take care of the problem. In the meantime, I was starting a new job that morning. I made it on time and everything, but I wasn’t very clean after the cold sponge shower that I had to do at home. So, I didn’t exactly put my best foot forward on my first day. The plummer called Kyle and said that he would come to the house around 4:00 - 6:00 that afternoon. He didn’t show up or call at all. By that time, the plummer’s office was closed, so we couldn’t get anyone else out here. So, I heated water on the stove and took a little warmer sponge bath tuesday night. Wednesday morning, Kyle called the plummer’s office and asked what happened. They had no idea and couldn’t get a hold of the plummer who was suppose to come to our house. They said that they could have someone out at the house around 5:00 that day and promised that he would show up this time. The good news is that the second plummer did show up around 6:00 on Wednesday. The bad news is that we needed a new water heater and the warehouse was closed for the evening. He could get us a new one Thursday morning first thing. So, I stayed home from work on Thursday morning to wait for the plummer, who was suppose to show up at 8:30. He came at 10:00. He got the new water heater in and we now have hot water…finally. Luckily, our home warranty covered the new water heater, so we only had to pay a minimal charge for the service.
In the meantime……. We have been taking Rocky to the city’s off the leash dog park every night for the past few weeks. He LOVES it! He gets to run, play with other dogs, and jump on people. Everyone out there is really nice, and we have enjoyed watching him play out there. However, I took him on my own Wednesday night while Kyle was home with the plummer. Everything was great. Rocky is one of the smaller dogs out there, but he doesn’t mind and still jumps and plays with the bigger dogs. But, all of the dogs took off running to greet the newest dog to enter the park (as usual). Rocky kinda got caught under another dog and was tumbled down to the ground. This has happened before and he gets up and goes back to playing. This time, he yelped and didn’t get up. I ran over to him to check on him, and nothing seemed to really be wrong with him. I got him to walk around a little, but he wouldn’t put any weight on one of his back legs. Everyone who had seen it thought that he just twisted it or something. I brought him home, and he started putting a litte more and a little more weight on it. The next morning (while waiting on the plummer), I noticed that he was avoiding that leg at all costs and wouldn’t put any weight on it again. I called our vet and got him in that morning. As it turns out, Rocky blew out a ligament in his knee and will have to have surgery. It is a common injury in dogs, apparently. The vet said that since it happened so easily with him, it would have happened at some point in his life. So, Rocky has to be on anti-inflammatory pills for ten days, and then he will have his knee surgery on Monday, April 16. I just feel bad because he is still a puppy and he really wants to jump around and play, but we can’t let him do everything that he was doing before to avoid aggrevating his injury. Poor little guy.
That was our week. Now, we are trying to get the house clean because Kyle’s parents will be here next week. Kyle’s dad Steve is going to help us paint several of the rooms in our house. I’m just excited to be getting some of this done. Hopefully, next week will go a little better for us.
