I have been at my new job for three weeks now.  I think that it is going well.  The head boss has complimented me a few times on stuff that I have done, so that makes me feel like I’m doing something right up there.  I did start as the office assistant, and then I was moved up to land representative a little faster than I was expecting - after one day! It’s a little crazy because it is a new company (they split from a pre-exsisting company and took a big client with them), and everything is in a bit of disorder right now.  I like it so far, and I like the people that I am working with.

In other news, Kyle and I leave in a week for a cruise to Alaska.  We’ll  fly to Seattle next Saturday and cruise up the Inside Passage from there.  I am hoping to see a whale, and Kyle wants to see the glaciers.  We’re really excited, and we’ll take lots of pictures!  And some day, I will figure out how to post them on here.  Silly blogsome.

I got a job today!!! I begin work in the morning at a title and leasing firm. Basically, we work with the oil companies to run title searches and draw up the land leases on drilling sites. We figure out who owns the surface rights, the mineral rights, and the royalty rights on a specific tract of land, and then negotiate the lease between the oil company and the land owners. Does that make sense? I am going to start out as the office assistant. After they saw my resume today, they want to start me as the assistant and then move me up to land representative (doing what I described above). I said that it sounded great. One of the guys look at one of the others and said, “So, we should be able to do all of that in about two weeks.” Yea!!! So, hopefully by September, I will be a full time land representative. It is exactly the job that I have been looking for, so I am really excited.

I’m still here. It has been a hard summer for me. I am still job hunting. Everyone here claims to be hiring, but they don’t seem to want to hire me. I’ve fallen in to a crack in the system where I am overqualified and underqualified all at the same time. I am still plugging away, but I am burnt out on all of this. I just don’t know what to do next.

We have had a few visitors this summer. Kyle’s grandparents and a cousin stopped at our house on their way to California in June. And, my parents came for a weekend in July. It has been fun to have company and to show off our new house and puppy.

Speaking of the puppy, Rocky is doing well. He loves going to the off the leash dog park every evening. Kyle and I enjoy the social time with the other owners out there. I think that we are making as many friends at the dog park as Rocky is!

Our fun news for now is that we are taking a cruise to Alaska the first week of September. I have been on a cruise before, and I got seasick before we left the dock. Kyle has never been on a cruise. We’re just hoping that we don’t get sick and can enjoy the beautiful scenery. That’s really all of the news that I have for now.
