A Quick Past Two Months Update
Well, I promised an update of our last two months, so here goes in list form.
1. Dec 8 - 15, we spent the entire week in Houston house hunting. I have no idea how many houses we looked at in the end! We were completely exhausted at the end of each day. Our Realtor was awesome and just kept going and going. We were even able to squeeze in a night to the Houston Symphony to see their Christmas concert. A much needed break and reminder of the time of year.
2. We went back to Midland for a total of 5 days. At the end of those 5 days, our entire house was packed up and moved into storage. The packers/movers were amazing! They did it all - packing and loading the truck - in approximately 9 hours! I don’t know if I will ever be able to pack and move myself again after getting that kind of service.
3. We then left for Indiana for the holidays - with a few days stop in Houston on the way. We drove both cars to Houston and stashed one at a friend’s house. (This was so that we only had to drive back to Houston and not worry about going back to Midland to get our other car.) We had the inspection of the house done on Sunday (Dec. 21), and then we met with the builder on Monday to go over any little things that we wanted fixed, repaired, changed before we moved in. We then left Houston Monday afternoon and drove all night to Indiana to beat the ice that was coming for Christmas.
4. We were able to spend a few days in Indiana for Christmas. Unfortunately, it was just too short. I was able to go see "The Lion King" in Indy with my family, so that was a nice and relaxing treat. We just wished that our schedule would have allowed us to stay longer and visit with more people. But, we had to get back to Houston to close on the house on Dec. 30.
5. After many many headaches, we were able to close on the house in time on Dec. 30. Let’s just say that we had to UPS some documents overnight two days before Christmas and a few things got delayed. It all worked out in the end, and we were able to close on time. We then got our stuff delivered and unpacked on Friday Jan. 2.
6. Since then, I have just been unpacking, organizing, cleaning, getting lost, waiting for installations people, etc. We’re still trying to get the last of our things put away and organized. Hopefully, I will get it all done very very soon.
